Yes. The Wedgworth family started EnviroCare in 1958 in Alexander City, Alabama. We're now in our third generation. Phillip Wedgworth is the current owner; his father and grandfather built the business before him.
How many offices do you have?
Three — Birmingham (Alabaster), Alexander City (which also covers Lake Martin and the Auburn area), and Huntsville. We service 26 cities across Alabama from these locations.
Are you licensed?
Yes. EnviroCare is licensed by the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries. We're members of the Alabama Pest Control Association and a Sentricon® Certified Specialist.
Do you require a contract?
No long-term contracts. Cancel anytime. We earn your business every visit — we don't lock you in.
How quickly can you schedule service?
Most non-emergency calls are scheduled within 5 business days. Emergency situations (active infestation, fire ant stings, etc.) get same- or next-day response.
What It Costs
Pricing & Plans
How much does pest control cost?
Bi-monthly perimeter pest control is $35/mo on ACH autopay, or $70 per visit if you prefer pay-as-you-go bi-monthly. That covers 30+ common pests with unlimited free re-services between visits.
How much does termite protection cost?
Sentricon® Always Active™ is $32/mo, OR $380 install + annual renewal. Includes up to $1,000,000 in termite damage repair coverage, annual inspection, and one WDO letter per year.
Do you bundle services?
Yes — convenience bundling. You get one tech and one invoice for combined services like Pest + Termite (Foundation plan at $67/mo) or Mosquito + Tick + Flea (Outdoor Bundle at $60/mo). We don't discount bundles — we keep individual prices low instead.
Is there a setup fee?
Pest control: no setup fee. Sentricon® termite: $380 install if you choose the install + annual renewal option, no install fee if you go with monthly billing.
Do you offer one-time treatments?
Yes for specific problems (fire ants, fleas, etc.). Most homeowners do better with ongoing service since pests come back without prevention.
Termite Specifically
Termite & Sentricon
How is Sentricon® different from liquid termite treatments?
Liquid treatments create a chemical barrier in the soil — they require drilling through concrete, work for 5-7 years before retreatment, and don't eliminate the colony. Sentricon® places bait stations in the ground that termites carry back to the colony, eliminating the whole population. No drilling required.
What does the $1M coverage actually cover?
If subterranean termites cause damage to your home while you're on Sentricon® Always Active™ and we've been maintaining it, Corteva (the manufacturer) covers repair costs up to $1,000,000. This is a product-backed warranty, not just a local promise.
Will Sentricon® mess up my landscaping?
No. Bait stations are about the size of a soda can and installed flush with the ground around your home perimeter. No drilling, no concrete cuts, no torn-up flowerbeds.
How fast does Sentricon® work?
Active termite colonies typically die out within 90 days of bait stations being installed. Sentricon® works by sterilizing the queen — without her, the colony collapses.
Can you do a WDO inspection for refinancing or selling?
Yes — we provide NPMA-33 Wood-Destroying Organism letters accepted by every Alabama lender. One free per year on active accounts; $75 standalone fee otherwise. Most letters delivered in 48 hours.
Outdoor Living
Mosquito & Tick
When does mosquito season run in Alabama?
April through October. Mosquitoes are inactive below 50°F. We may extend earlier or later in warm springs/falls.
How long does a mosquito application last?
21 days, weather depending. Heavy rain can shorten effectiveness — we'll re-treat free if needed.
Is the spray safe for my dog and kids?
Yes once dry — typically 30 minutes. We use EPA-registered pyrethroids applied per label, same active ingredients as in canine flea/tick prevention products.
Do you treat for ticks?
Yes. Tick control is included in our Outdoor Bundle ($60/mo) along with mosquito and flea. Critical for wooded properties, lake homes, and families with dogs.
What about pollinators like bees and butterflies?
We avoid direct application to flowering plants and bee/butterfly habitat. Bee-safe practices are standard — we won't spray actively flowering plants.
What We Use
Safety & Products
What products do you use?
EPA-registered products applied to manufacturer specifications. Specific products vary by service (pest, termite, mosquito, tick) and target pest. We can provide the exact label for any application if you ask.
How long until my pets/kids can go back in the yard?
Typically 30 minutes — once the application is dry. We apply during weather conditions that allow quick drying.
Do you treat inside the house?
Interior service is included free on request between bi-monthly visits. We focus on exterior perimeter treatment since 90%+ of pests enter from outside, but interior is available anytime.
What if I'm pregnant or have a newborn?
Mention it when scheduling and we'll discuss timing, products, and safety protocols. We've handled this many times — we'll work with your concerns.
